Anna, Schaduwbeelden uit Suriname. Gebroeders Binger, Amsterdam 1858.
Anna Adriana Everdina Henrietta AMPT (Nijmegen 1832 – Nijmegen 1885) was from a well to do family in Nijmegen in The Netherlands. In 1858 she published her poem Schaduwbeelden uit Suriname (Images of shades from Suriname) , for which she was inspired by Wolter Robert van Hoëvell, a Dutch abolitionist who wrote his famous Slaven en vrijen onder de Nederlandsche wet (Slaves and freed under the Dutch Law).
This copy has a contemporary red leather binding with rich gilt decoration and lettering. A rare treasure.
